👋 Hey everyone! Welcome to the first devlog for Cross The Bridge, our new casual arcade game designed to challenge your reflexes and precision. Here's a behind-the-scenes look at the journey of bringing this game to life!
The idea behind Cross The Bridge was to create a simple yet addictive experience that players of all ages could enjoy. We wanted a game that anyone could pick up and play, but mastering it would take time, skill, and practice. The "stretch-and-release" mechanic felt intuitive and fun, making it the perfect core for our gameplay.
We aimed for a minimalist yet vibrant art style. Each level features dynamic backgrounds like mountains, forests, and deserts to keep the visuals fresh and engaging. The bridge animation had to feel satisfying, so we spent time tweaking the stretching mechanics and collision effects to make every successful bridge feel rewarding.
The core gameplay revolves around judging the correct bridge length for gaps that vary in size. The challenge comes from requiring precision – too short or too long, and it's game over! To keep things interesting:
The audio was designed to enhance the player's experience. From the stretching sound of the bridge to the satisfying "click" of a perfect connection, each effect plays a role in immersing players in the game. The background music is lighthearted and fun to complement the gameplay pace.
As we near the release, we’re focusing on:
We’re also exploring adding new game modes and seasonal themes post-launch to keep the gameplay fresh and exciting!
