Most of the work over the last few weeks has been dedicated to:
This is still centered on getting the early gameplay in a "good enough for pre-alpha" position in prep for a demo release.
Most of the effort to get the demo workable has been around filling in basic content, like specific skills, working items, and so on. It's been straightforward for the most part, but involved patching a few content holes I still had glaring at me. For example:
There's been some new art as well, mostly centered on characters added for sidequests. Here's one:
The last thing I want to get in place is as many sound assets as possible. There will definitely still be gaps here, but I'd like to at least finish out the enemy skills, because the limited animations put a bit more focus on the sound as a differentiator between actions. As I've said before, the sound is meant to be somewhat more abstract and suggestive of purpose than it is a 1-to-1 representation of what's happening, but I still think it'll be important to kind of punctuating the gameplay, particularly in combat.
All of that said, one thing I've been working on is recording gameplay with internal audio. It was a little bit stupid to set up, but I got it working, so now I can start posting proper clips (with sound) now and then. Check it out, here's a bit of combat:
I don't expect to use this YouTube channel as anything other than a Holder of Random Gameplay Clips, but look, if you really feel compelled to smash that like button, I'm not going to stop you.
Keep an eye out for the exact same stuff I said last time, in this order:
We're getting there!
