This is my first solo game, and my first non-system driven game. It took 6 weeks to complete this project, I've been wanting to make a Horror game for awhile and I wanted to learn how to use Unreal Engine, This project was huge for me because I had never made a 3d game, while all the assets in the game are from the Unreal Store, I still had to learn about Textures, UVs, Materials, Light Rendering, and Post Processing, it felt like a mountain of work.
I've had this idea kicking around in my head for while and I'm glad I got it out, I still think there is a lot of room for exploration and I will probably re-imagine at it again in the future. I composed the music as well which was a new genre for me.
So a few things that went wrong. I made things too rigid in the sense of triggers that are required to be triggered to progress the game, I feel that while it was great to get the ball rolling on the design I quickly felt locked in. I have some ideas on how to improve that for the future and have it feel more organic.
Having never built a linear narrative driven game, I quickly felt lost play testing repeatedly and couldn't really tell if what I was making was objectively any good.
I used these assets if anyone is interested.
