Journey into Horror: A Horror Game Development Story

Initial Vision
Started with an ambitious plan for a multi-level horror game in a mysterious hotel. The concept: a heroine trapped in a comic book reality, with each floor hiding unique puzzles and dangers.

Original Scope

  • Five unique floors
  • Five distinct stories
  • Five unique adversaries
  • Five unique traps 

Aimed to create an atmospheric 2D game where each level revealed a new chapter through puzzles and challenges.

Reality Check 

First week: Reduced from five floors to three to focus on quality over quantity. Day 10: Internal team changes led to further scope reduction to two floors. Added new team members: sound designer and mentor for animations support.

Final Result 

Completed one floor with:

  • Core gameplay mechanics
  • Atmospheric environment
  • Foundation for future development

Lessons Learned

  • Importance of realistic planning
  • Value of adaptability


Created solid prototype showcasing atmosphere and mechanics. Foundation set for future expansion.

Future goal: Complete all floors of the mysterious hotel.
