Check out this video to see what’s coming in this patch:
That one mechanic most of you dearly missed (and some of you might have hated, for some reason) has returned in SUPER PHANTASY FIGHTERS!
Just Attacks (abbreviated as JA) is a mechanic from PSO2 that allows the player to chain or repeat attacks, where timing your attacks gives a critical damage bonus. In SUPER PHANTASY FIGHTERS, timing your attacks allow you to sequentially complete that attack you’re performing, which results in a simple, 1-button combo. You’ll notice when you see a spark, followed by a pulsating ring and the iconic sound effect! You can combine it with Step cancelling to rapidly repeat or combine those 1-button combos together to make your own complete fighting style! JA’s also (hopefully!) alleviate the animation lock issue players have experienced in previous versions.
JA’s have been added to the following fighters’ movesets:
Here’s an example of before and after comparisons of the JA implementation.
If you look closely, the fighters have gotten a bit snappier!
That’s right, FOUR new stages have been added!
Fight on the rooftop with a nice view of the ARKS Ship’s residential district! This stage is accompanied by the many renditions of Angels with Burning Hearts, including the Episode Oracle, SEGA ROCK, and GBA covers of the song!
It’s a brawl smack in the middle of Tokyo from EPISODE 4! Featuring songs like Zero-G and other upbeat tunes from games like maimai, 7th Dragon, and Persona 4 Arena.
It’s Kuron (also known as The Nightfall Province) from planet Harkotan! This stage compliments the previous existing stage in the game, Kakuriyo. Features songs from Phantasy Star Universe.
If your childhood self saw this, they’d probably be screaming. It’s the Special Stage from Sonic Advance 3! The gimmick in this stage is the Tornado– depending on how many players are on one side, it'll tilt in that direction!
