We just uploaded our first game made for a game jam. It’s been a very enjoyable experience and hopefully we’ll do more.
Heartbreaker is a pretty simple TTRPG, we’ve tried to make it easy to pick up, learn and play without prior knowledge. The game was majorly inspired by the ideas of the game jam. People submitting simple, low-quality (visually) games with minimal features to distinctify them, with all of them doing their best to make it.
The game is much the same. Players are a form of scrap creature, risen from the many scrap piles of the world and given life. Each life potentially fleeting and fragile, but with the chance of growing and surviving, or even thriving. The mechanics are hopefully found to be simple, there’s a mechanic to let players enhance their rolls to have more choice and impact in scenarios both in and out of combat. A few class choices with different non-damaging abilities for variation and creative uses. Along with some more unusual mechanics, such as Heart rolls, where players roll two of the same dice and note the difference between the results, which affects certain aspects of abilities or combat. Or upgrading characters using resource gained through tasks, exploration or defeating foes, that isn’t just XP or milestones.
I don’t want to spoil to much more, best to give you a chance to look into it yourself. If you enjoy Heartbreaker or like the sound of its mechanics, be sure to look out for one of our other projects we’re working on, known as Age of Metal, as some of the mechanics are simple versions inspired by it.
As always, we hope you enjoy and have a lovely day.
