Why am I trying to kill and remake my game after only 2 releases? Am I finally going insane?
Well, let me explain:
First off, all of the game's files are stuck in an external hard drive that needs repairing. So I haven't made any progress in months because of that. I hope to recover the files in it by the end of the year, so that I can resume development. During this time, a few things happened. I graduated, started taking courses to apply to the college of my dreams, and finally, I started to relearn C# and Unity...
I made this game in GameMaker Studio 2 at a time when I was struggling to find an engine to migrate to as a Unity user. Recently, Unity has reverted its terrible decisions, making the engine a valuable and very powerful choice for an up and coming Game Dev such as myself once again. GameMaker isn't bad in the slightest; in fact, if you're looking to start out your own Game Dev journey, I fully suggest going for GMS2 since GML is easy to learn, and it also has Visual Scripting if you're into that, but I feel that it's a bit limited and archaic in some aspects that really hinder the creative process.
Having made so little progress, and moving to an engine I've always been more comfortable with have made me reconsider the continuation of this game... In GameMaker. You think I'll leave my best project so far to rot? Not happening. As soon as I recover the files, I'll do my best to port everything made so far into a new Unity 2D project. This will allow me to make a better game for all of you, while also upgrading everything that's already been done. It's going to take a lot of work, but my promise is to make quality games, and breaking through the limits of the engine can, and will make this project a lot better.
Here's a list of changes I will make to the reboot:
And more.
Sorry for the long read, but I had to get that out of the way. Take care!
