I have not updated the Android version because it was getting impractical. However, the latest version of Ren’Py allow for an updater/gamesonly update to deal with that. While the android version is only 45MB (or so), this will download the full 1.8GB of content. In addition, it will also check for updates and download that. It was designed to get around the 2GB APK limitation, but it works for this as well. ;)
