We are a group of students learning game development, currently a team of six members. Our goal is to improve our skills through this Jam. In this first devlog, we’ll share our vision for the theme "Secrets" and some of the concepts we worked on this past weekend.
In our minds, we want to create a game where you, as the player, must discover why you are trapped on a disgusting floor. You remember nothing, and you'll have to solve puzzles to escape the place.
In this flat, you must uncover your past and discover why there is a corpse on the apartment's bed. We believe this fits with the theme of "Secrets" for our project.
We’ve drawn inspiration from a typical American flat— a place with a living-kitchen, a tiny bathroom and a bedroom. In this case, our protagonist is in a run-down apartment, so we aim to recreate a disgusting environment.
To ensure the environment has more cohesion with the UI, we've drawn inspiration from a menu Postal. It's a game where you play as a guy living in an American satire.
We've also some design puzzles done, but we’ll share them in another devlog!
Francesco is our player. He hasn't memory, and he is trapped in this flat. You, as Francesco, must discover who he is and how to escape. He hasn't had an easy life. He suffers of psychosis and is unemployed. He tries to earn money whenever he can.
He has always been an orphan, and from a young age, he had to start stealing with his best friend to have a decent life.
To finish, we have some tilesets created by Kamisama887 and we edited a sprite drawn by Zeenaz. To recreate the stage where this 'Escape Room' takes place.
