Dev Log 8 (Nov 6 - Nov 12):
Overall progress:
- Conducted individual playtesting.
- Redesigned some levels.
Art team:
- Decorated all levels with the assets.
- Rendered all the levels.
- Polished all the assets.
Music team:
- Created new sound effects and replaced old ones (such as footstep SFX).
- Created new level and menu music.
- Began conceptualizing a dynamic design for level music.
Programming team:
- Fixed known bugs.
- Implemented new assets.
- Implemented the AI hint system on all remaining levels.
- Refined the controls popups.
- Synchronized the animations.
- Fixed SFX issues.
- Implemented the tutorial level.
- Added an ambience slider.
- Added level state information to the UI.
- Added controller icon support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers.
Challenges:
- Managing merge errors and conflicts.
- There were more merge issues than usual since the art team was decorating levels while the programming team was fixing bugs and implementing improvements.
- Implementing the hint system on the remaining levels.
- Most levels came with new edge cases to account for in the hint system.
- Implementing assets.
- Issues with the assets such as the pivot position in the models being in the corner instead of the center delayed their implementation.
Future plans:
- Polish the final build.
- Polish the itch page.
- Create the trailer for the game.
- Create dynamically changing level music.
- Polish SFX and add new ones as needed.
- Fix more bugs.
- Address the new feedback gained from our latest round of playtesting.
- Finalise the narrative.
