The environment art style has been largely worked on in this update. It definitely needs more props and I haven't experimented with pits the player can fall into (abyss/lava/acid), but the general style is there.
The idea is to have multiple "floors" to the dungeon. Each floor has its own tileset and artistic theme to it (overgrown, flooded, lava, etc) and adds some unique enemy types that fit the theme.
It stands to be seen if this scope of game is doable for me, but I do have prior experience making this style of game and so far everything has gone smoothly.
The player art is probably temporary. For one there are no animations which makes it rather dry, but I think it also looks too much like an infographic stickman. Not that the final player art will be too much more complex than the current version.
