Version 0.17 is finally finished and ready for early access play testers. The script is now up to 32,025 words and we have about 135 mins of total gameplay across the different paths. In this release we went all out on Eryn's h-scene and tried a lot of new things that we think worked. In the past our animated h-scenes have been a single loop and a single unlooped finishing animation. This time around we storyboarded a series of camera angles and shots to stitch together into something a lot more cinematic.
Escape Artist has also been practicing animation and really leveled all of the movement up. The writing for this scene is also pretty different compared to what we've done in the past and we're going to need some feedback to see if it hit the mark or if we should dial it back.
The scenes are still a bit disjointed but the next release is planned to address all of that. There are still some incomplete sections, some of which will be cut and others will be polished. Events will also be moving around and there will be some major changes to the backstory. When it's done I'll make a recap with sparknotes available for anyone who doesn't really want to go back to replay the prologue, but obviously not everything will come through so the best experience will come from restarting. There's also one more scene we're planning to add into Eryn's path that will take place just before the two most recent h-scenes. That one won't be in 0.18 but it will be key in making her path flow correctly. Some pieces of the new h-scene, specifically what happens at the tail end, are going to be chopped and moved into that scene instead so just know that the timeline of events is going to be changing. Bear with us for a couple more releases and we'll have it all ironed out.
I also want to mention that version 0.18 is planned to come out at the end of this month, so you can expect another update in just a couple of weeks. Thanks again for your support and let us know if you find any bugs or typos hiding anywhere.
