After months of anticipation, Lust’n’Farm is back with an all-new, more stable version than ever!
Given the wait, I don't need to explain just how challenging it was to review (yet again...) all of the game’s code to fix and optimize it. But the results are in: memory usage has dropped from over 10GB to just under 1GB. While this wasn’t “too” bad on newer PCs, it made the game unplayable on more modest setups.
I won’t go into too many details, but since the very architecture of the code has been entirely redone, some features aren’t ready yet—like adjustable text speed, which is now set to instant. For saves, there’s a small step to keep them compatible with the new version!
This work isn’t fully done yet. There are still optimization options on the table (now that I know what I’m doing!), and in restoring the game to its original render quality, the file size has gone up again to over 3GB. I’d like to lower this or at least avoid further increases in the future. But aside from that, I have plenty of ideas to keep improving the game experience, which I’ll outline below.
As for new content, I’ve been progressing on a few scenes between coding crises, and if all goes well, there should be an update as soon as next week.
Regarding the Android Version: This isn’t my top priority right now, but it’s still in the plan. With the game’s optimization, I finally (finally!) managed to compile an app. It’s not working yet, so there’s still work to do, but progress is being made. Not giving up hope!
