‘Final’ Toolkit and Printing

Named: Wightbred’s Toolkit
A downloadable Toolkit

The Toolkit is as finished as a document that supports a continually evolving playstyle can be, and I am printing copies for our personal use. I’m unlikely to make any further changes for some years, so no need to send details of typos at this point.

CHANGES SINCE THE ‘ALMOST FINAL’ VERSION

Changes are mostly just clean-up, minor re-writes and editing since the version released on 8 September 2024. But I have added four additional pages to Cinematic Techniques.

Also changed up some of the art that didn’t meet the grade for printing. A shoutout to an artist I only found recently that filled some of these gaps: Dailor has some gorgeous black and white art they are making available which is well worth a look. A couple of my favourites attached to this post.

PRINTING A TOOLKIT

You can print your own copy at your own risk, at the cost of the printing plus postage. You should check the PDF version is what you want before you print, as I am not making any money on this so cannot give a refund if you are unhappy with the content. I’m also not responsible for printing or shipping, so if there is an issue you need to take that up with the publisher.

This process uses Lulu.com because it is the only one that I have tried, but you could use another printer like Mixam or a local print shop if you know what you are doing. Cost is postage plus the approximate cost from the table below at the time this post was made:

Printing CostsAUDUSDEURGBP
Paperback$17$13€12£11
Hardcover$28$21€18£17

You can’t find this by searching Lulu, but you can print it if you follow the links:

  • A5 Paperback - Ordered a couple of versions of these and pretty happy with printing.
  • A5 Hardcover - Only just ordered a couple of these, and the shipping is 20+ days,  so no report on quality yet.

Will keep these links live as long as at cost printing isn’t a hassle for me.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Will release a final Named Summary document which adds more art and matches the text in this longer version in the coming days.

I’m still playing up to three sessions a week of Named, and I’m unlikely create another ‘system’ as Named is still meeting all our roleplaying needs. We’ve played classic fantasy, Sci Fi troopers, 1970s detectives, WWII horror, and Feudal Japan anime with Named recently.

I want to try some more Named solo, and will be starting to write up some of the worlds we use. Let me know if you are interested in writing something CC-BY to contribute to a compiled document of worlds.

I’ll also be woodworking.
