#release
Hello everyone!
It took longer than expected, but the end result is also even better than I ever expected! The Fire of Ardor - Quest for the Soul Stone version 1.2.0 is now officially released.
The video below summarizes the new features in the new version. I fact, now the experience feels like a real game (although the old version was also okay though). The performance is now very reasonable, the input methods can be chosen freely (mouse and keyboard or controller), there is voice acting and translations in English and German. I have even more ideas for future extensions (this time more content rather than new features or performance), but these will have to wait, since there are other cool projects in the pipeline.
Let me summarize the new features in this release:
The game world has gotten many more details, the sprites have been improved and there is hit feedback when hitting something with the sword. Attacking enemies from behind gives you a chance to make up to triple damage. The balancing was improved, the options menu now provides much more extensive settings and the rendering code has been improved to avoid dizzyness and claustrophobia.
For more player convenience, a quicksave keyboard shortcut and an autosave feature have been added. The game now periodically saves your progress and automatically loads the latest savegame if you die.
Locked doors now indicate the type of key that is needed to open them and there are many bug fixes and also some small easter-eggs. Finally, a story intro is played when you start the game. It describes the plot and the motivation of the player.
The whole game takes about one and a half hour to be finished and I would really appreciate if you somehow let me know if you played the game. I would also love to see you playing the game in a stream or in a let's play video!
