Quantum Quest
A browser game made in HTML5

I was given much feedback when my classmates played my game. I'll start with the positive being my movement. It seemed that almost everyone loved how my movement worked with my map and how smooth and efficient all the extra features worked. I learned that movement and mechanics are the highlights of my game and was told to focus on these pros and create my map around them. This was my plan from the start and why I designed my character and movements before any map design. Below I will show a snippet example of my game's movements. Secondly, there was also criticism from the map point of view. My map is very basic and just uses mainly rectangles all over the map. The biggest feedback I got was to now focus on my art and map design to complement the movements I have made. I decided to create some pixel art to go along with my game and am in the process of doing so.

Wall Jump:

Far Jump:

I feel the experience of climbing a difficult wall or beating a level with timing and precision is the core experience of my game. Also, my UI is hands-on and enjoyable. I will have a storyline for a creature lost from home who finds himself on a strange planet where he needs to reach the black hole to reach back home. I felt that this is a good story because it gives the player an end goal to look forward to after your challenging game. I also hope to add components of this strange planet and the memory of his home to make the game more content. My UI for starting the game will be very simple.  I just want to implement a start button and reset button. There will be checkpoints where the player can spawn so I will provide the UI elements to support that.

Pixel Art:

I worked on my next build based on the feedback I received on my art build. I started to create my art but it is taking much longer then I expected. I am also working on my map at the same time so after these two are complete my game should be close to finishing as a draft. I plan to put in more time and get more feedback on my art and map design to improve it over time. Art is not my strong suit but I am aware of the engines to create pieces.
