As of v0.11, players now have the option to steal. This activity costs no energy and can provide a profit, but it isn't without its risk.
To steal from the Shop, you'll need to have less than 75 Notoriety. When doing so, you can select what item you wish to steal. Note: You can't steal lottery tickets or cigarettes as I assume those would be behind the counter.
You'll gain a bonus to stealing if your beauty is 50 or above and a penalty if your beauty is below 35. You'll also gain a bonus if you have the 'Thug Life' tattoo. Some items are harder to steal than others, depending on their value. For example, stealing a Six Pack is by far the hardest and has roughly a 35%-50% success rate depending on your bonuses, whereas stealing a single beer has around a 50%-75% success rate.
If you're successful, you'll earn your free item. You'll also receive an increase in Stress by 10-20 (1-15 with the 'Cat Palm' or 'Thug Life' tattoo) and 0-20 Notoriety (-10-20 with the 'Thug Life' tattoo).
If you are caught, you'll have to either return the item or pay for it. Paying for the item will reduce your 'Notoriety' by 0-20 but increase your Stress by 20-30.
You can also steal from the donation box at the church. To do so, go up to the donation box and type in a negative amount. You'll then be presented with a prompt telling you how much is in the donation box. You can then type in the amount you wish to steal.
Upon stealing, you run the risk of being detected, which is equal to the amount stolen + 0-50. If this amount is above a random number between 25-125, your theft will be detected and you will be banned from the church. You'll also gain 20-30 Stress (12-25 with 'Thug Life' or 'Cat Palm' Tattoo) and 0-20 Notoriety (-5-20 with the 'Thug Life' Tattoo).
Stealing can be profitable in many ways. For example, you can sell stolen condoms and beers to The Trio at the park. You can also save on food costs, or use items such as beer, lollipops, or chocolate nut bars to reduce stress without spending energy.
