Devlog #1 (Planting of a little Sprout!)

Welcome to the devlog for Sprout (Working Title) for the team "Green Beans", where we embark on a journey to restore the magic of the mystical forest and awaken the ancient Tree Spirit! This devlog serves as a platform to share our development progress, connect with a community of like-minded eco-warriors and adventure enthusiasts, and gather valuable feedback as we build this enchanting action-adventure RPG.

Concept

In Sprout, players will take on the role of a small Tree Guardian, navigating a beautifully crafted 2D pixel art world. Our goal is to awaken the ancient Tree Spirit, restore the forest's vitality, and confront the dark forces that threaten its existence. Through exploration, puzzle-solving, and engaging combat, players will experience a unique blend of action, adventure, and environmental themes.

Game Vision and Story

In the Mystical Forest, climate change has plunged the forest into chaos. As an apprentice spirit, players must journey through diverse biomes, overcoming ecological challenges to revive the forest's magic. Each restored area not only breathes life back into the environment but also unlocks new abilities, allowing players to interact with the world in exciting ways.

Selected Gameplay Type

After careful consideration, we have decided on a top-down perspective that emphasizes exploration and puzzle-solving. Players will engage with various environmental puzzles and quests that challenge their creativity and critical thinking skills.

Art Style

We have chosen a charming 2D pixel art style inspired by classic adventure games. This aesthetic complements the whimsical theme of Sprout while allowing for expressive character design and vibrant environmental storytelling.

Gameplay Mechanics and Features (Work in Progress)

Sprout will feature a variety of gameplay mechanics, including:

•  Seed Abilities: Players will collect different seed types, each with unique abilities that aid in exploration and puzzle-solving:

• Puzzle Challenges: Players will solve environmental puzzles that require clever use of seed abilities. For example, using **Vine Trap Seeds** to immobilize enemies while solving a series of switches to unlock a path.

• Exploration: Discover hidden areas, collectibles, and lore as players navigate through lush, vibrant environments that transform as they restore life.

• Quest System: Engage with cute tree spirits to complete quests, which reward players with new seeds, abilities, and lore about the forest's history.
