After some valuable comments and some testing from friends and children, the main comment was that this game was too hard. Its a matching game that feels good if you can progress through a few levels and as it relies on random food items and bombs to progress further it feels cheap to lose quickly. Therefore I have decreased the difficulty level by only having 5 food items for the first three levels, 6 for the next three then 7 onwards. Once you have 7 food items and 4 trays it becomes incredible difficult quickly.
Thanks everyone for testing and providing feedback. It was a lifetime ambition to create a gameboy game and I am proud that I made something that was actually playable. I started with lots of ideas and bits of paper and settled on the simplest of ideas. I think thats the key to a good game. create the world, the rules and keep it simple.
If you are currently trying to finish a game then I would say keep going. If it becomes an uncontrollable monster, don't give up - scale it back, simplify BUT FINISH.
