Short update today.
My Dell XPS 15, which Dungeon Gals was originally developed on and had many of the music files I needed to access in order to make necessary updates, has kicked the bucket. This means I now have to recreate many of DG's songs from scratch.
Sigh.
XPS 15, you will not be missed. I don't know if it was Microsoft's fault for installing insane amounts of invasive bloatware, Dell's fault for making an incredibly faulty piece of hardware, or both, but this was the single worst computer I've ever used in my entire life, and it's not close either. As many issues as switching to Mac has caused, I'm glad I actually have semi-reliable hardware and software instead of the constant hardware failures, ruined batteries, and incredible sluggishness I had to deal with when using the XPS 15.
Granted, I hate this mac too. It's not customizable, I can't play any games on it, and it just feels like shit to use at times. But damn, I can actually work on a game without much issue! That's worth something, at least.
Sometimes I ask myself why I'm a game developer in the first place. This is one of those nights I don't really know why, but this entire affair has pretty much guaranteed DG isn't coming out till 2025. So much for being my summer covid project...
