Hey everyone! Welcome to the newly updated vibe ~ โจ
Been making crazy progress in the last couple months but I'll try to keep it short and sweet ๐ญ
Cryptid Camp is a BIG project. Or at least, I plan to make it one eventually.
So I broke it down into 4 gameplay foundations that all the playable features will rely on:
Long story short, I've been knocking out each of them one by one ๐
I wish I could add my videos here but itch.io is weird so lets break it down with screenshots!
Probably one of the most important of the 4 core features is foraging. That includes the trees, bushes, rocks, grass, and general environmental pieces that will be interacted with. What's the point of a world if it doesn't feel alive? Berries can now be picked, trees cut down, grass trimmed, and rocks destroyed!
Since I can't post videos here easily, I recommend checking out THIS post of mine that showcases the interactivity of these game objects!
I don't consider Cryptid Camp a farming sim, but since I'm trying to get that "cottage-core" feel, it would feel pretty wrong for a nature inspired cozy game to NOT have some sort of gardening feature. So players will now be able to tend garden boxes full of plants.!
To keep your plants alive and healthy, make sure to check your garden daily in case they need watering, weeding, or trimming!
If you're interested in seeing the minigames in action, I recommend THIS video post
With the help of the Dialogic Godot plugin, I have been able to seamlessly implement my characters from the OG Cryptid Creek game. When you interact with a certain building or character. I owe dialogic my life. It was super easy to add in and set up a timeline, and I highly recommend if your game needs a dialogue system!
Again, if you want to see a video of it in action, click HERE
so uhhhhh I haven't actually tackled this yet but I will very soon! Right now I'm working on a lot of the public presence of Cryptid Camp since development has been really fun for me. I'm just DYING to get this game out to playtesters soon >:3c
Thank you for reading to the end! Hopefully this new visual set up with photos was far easier to digest.
Please feel free to leave some feedback either below in the comments, twitter(x), insta/threads, or bluesky
And remember, don't stray too far from camp ๐
