We are Pyramid Scams Games, an indie video game developer formed by 3 friends currently studying at Universidad de Chile, FCFM, within the CS Department (DCC)
The original idea for the game came after Nicolas played "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order," where he shared with the rest of us his idea of stopping bullets. As we discussed it further, the concept described on the game's official page emerged: essentially a roguelike/bullet hell where you control the movement of bullets and units, like a kind of force.
Here we can see a player and an enemy. The player shoots projectiles at the enemy, and if they aren't on target, he can slow down time in a specific area and reposition the enemy by applying a force, essentially moving the enemy into the path of the bullets.
We began by refining the original idea and aligning on a shared vision for the game. To do so, we held a meeting where we broke the concept down into smaller tasks. We concluded with something like this:
The player will be able to slow down, not freeze, an area of the screen with a cooldown. Inside that area, the player can apply a force to the enemy, repositioning them into the path of the bullets. We believe that simply freezing bullets doesn't add much to the gameplay, as the bullets are already fired. By slowing down time instead of freezing it, we introduce a mechanic that creates a richer, more engaging game experience.
We all are studying in the DCC and taking courses from the 8th semester, like Programming Languagues or Web Networks, we take this course to have fun and develop something interesting with this optional course.
