Devlog #4: The Road Ahead

I think I did it(?) I’ve finished what I can possibly do for Spooktober. Anything else will take time and effort I don’t have, especially since I don’t want to crunch.

I’m sad a good chunk of the game remains static, but I’ve got some pretty satisfying scene compositions. Here’s hoping the judges would be patient enough to slog through the underfurnished parts, ha.

But I’ve actually done some pretty crude coding in this project, basically my Hello World with Light.VN. Considering I want to continue developing this moving forward, my first order of business after Spooktober should be cleaning up the codebase and macro-ing anything I would reuse. I plan to write a detailed review about my time with Light.VN, but for time being I can only say I’m happy with it.

After that, it’s… I know, let’s talk about it. It’s the narrative. I think it ends up pretty weak because I can’t put in more time fleshing things out. It’s something I have to accept, live with, and try to fix in the upcoming months. Alas.

All in all, I’ve spent about 9 days from the start of the development, I think? I worked on this in about 6 out of 9. I expect to finish testing and building in about two days, so everything takes about one week.

That’s surprisingly shorter than I thought, and I definitely accomplished more than I set out to do. It’s been a whirlwind of a time, and I hope that, however flawed this story is, it would reach someone out there.
