Had a bizarre week with health issues and then child drama tonight.
Texting
Any chance to write a proper update has been ruined, so I am just doing it quickly on my phone - and I *hate* typing on phone.
Edda starting in the forest was a mistake. I see it now. She must start in daylight, in the relative safety of the village, before descending into the woods and as the game becomes increasingly mystical.
I have the village planned out and a couple of the scenes are looking great. I'll post screenshots when possible.
Joseph Campbell
Edda now has a more typical hero's journey. I don't mind being clichéd in this, if it plays out well. I'm not some genius who is able to bend the rules - better to make a game well, that follows the rules.
Also that's another reason why the anachronistic dialogue had to be toned down.
Monkeys
I watched a film at the weekend - Inside Out 2. All the trailers were full of this unoriginal, box-ticking trailer dialogue that made me cringe. Plus every film was a prequel or sequel.
I can't let my dialogue be that predictable, but it will have to fit the tone. Probably it will help. Those trailers mentioned are actually very guilty of anachronistic dialogue. Plus, a lot were talking animals, so... obviously that is a bit unrealistic too.
Only magical northern monkeys actually talk.
