Hello again, Sam Boydstun here delivering the second to last development update for our game Builder's Brawl. Our team at California State University, Chico is currently in feature less production that is focused around refining and completing our art. This dev log will be filled almost entirely with art additions we've made to the game and has many of the final looks of each of our levels.
With only three weeks left in the semester, this game is so close to it's completion that we are all looking forward to a grand final build. Completing our art is one of the last things we need to accomplish, from the look of our UI menus like the level select screen above, to the painting of our terrains in every level. Art art art. Here's a look at our levels that just underwent terrain texting and a final post processing pass.
Beautifying our levels was further rounded out by adding in more models and populating the world. We want each map to feel like a unique place with it's own character. To finalize this idea we needed to bring more models out of the bank and give the levels a further boost to their style.
A suggestion that was posed to us by other students was to give individual faces to our unique personality characters. We loved this idea and went forward with it by creating a neutral, losing and angry face for each character that will change based on how many points they have relative to the other players.
As we come to a close in development, another main focus is to round out the personality of the characters through opening animations that play when the game starts, and victory animations when a player wins. Our clumsy personality had several animations finished this period, and it really gives him a loveable feel that we believe our players will attach too. Along with clumsy, our crazy character finally has his opening freak-out.

Once again, thank you from everyone here at the Builder's Brawl team for investing your time reading about the progression of our game. We are beyond excited to be only two weeks away from a published build that we will all be very proud of. We've spent all semester long working hard and its just about time to punch our ticket and have the opportunity for our game to represent our school. Till next time -
