It's doooooone !
'Tis yours truly, Daugsilius.
I just uploaded the proper build of Tower of Scales, added a screenshot, and with this devlog the journey will be complete.
Phew, I'm glad !
I'm a little afraid that the game won't run anywhere outside my machine. Classic.
I built it multiple times along the weekend and tested it in random folders, and all seemed fine.
Tonight I tried sending it to my former PC and running it, which is always a good crash test, except it did not work.
Tough. I hope this is because the PC is old and missing some Windows DLL...
I'm afraid it might be one of the third party libraries I used in the game, although they have associated files in the package I generate and I have found no explanation on how to do that on the web - so surely it's not a common issue.
Anyway, if this is a dependency issue, worst case scenario no one will be able to try my game as part of the jam - not a tremendous loss - and I'll upload a fixed version once I understand what went wrong.
It's just another speedbump, after the epic compiling slowness that happened yesterday night and other niceties.
The final version is... nice !
I was really surprised by how much a little polish with decent assets improved the apparent quality of the game.
I had to give up my hopes of visual helps, menus, tooltips, smart procedural generation, animation, smart pathfinding...
But what I did focus on and complete is pretty cool.
I'm feeling good right now. Yesterday was super grueling, I was very pessimistic, but today I was left with just small improvements that all add up to a decent creation. Cool !
Now, I get to relax, go see the craziness I could only dream about, and then sleep. A lot.
I hope some of you will get to run the game and enjoy a couple minutes of gameplay :)
If you try the game (or attempt to) or read any of these devlogs, thank you so much ! If you have any game of your own, let me know how I could try them.
Have a nice one !
