Next Release Update...

The Running of the Wolves Demo
A downloadable game for Windows

Let's be honest now, we're not quite at the weekly updates stage, but it's getting more frequent!

We had hoped to get the new release of the game up for supporters by the middle of this month, but as it turns out it's looking likely that it'll need to be another couple of weeks. The mai reason, is that the big tasks that were in progress have taken a lot of the allocated time and left nothing for the smaller but also important things.

First things first, we've removed the Hornlizard. This is not a permanent thing, and if you have a savegame with one already attached, it will remain there until you next start a new game. We've just removed them spawning into levels. They need a lot more work and right now they're just a thing that sits on your arm. It also helps that it means less male animations. The Hornlizard is on the list for an update soon, and we hope to do a proper implementation so it has a point.

Second, The basics of the Plains World are now in place. There's 2.5 open maps to build still, and the framework for the boss level. That is progressing well.

Third, Male characters are nearly done. There's a few tweaks, and we need to get some other stuff working fully, but the animations for him are done.

We've also done some tweaks to how enemies howl and alert each other, and reduced how many of them are in dungeons, so hopefully they should be a bit easier.

Now, the big update we were hoping for was controllable animations during sex. We've been working hard on it, but the system we've got is a good framework but isn't quite where we think it needs to be, so we're sticking a pin in it for this release and concentrating on everything else.

Finally, during testing, some big issue started cropping up with the inventory system. We've known there's issues with it for a while, and the intention was to update it at a later stage. Adding male players has revealed some major flaws. Differentiating between clothes for each gender has broken how the whole inventory works. So we're doing a complete Inventory rebuild.

The plan is to have the inventory also take over from the pause menu and have controls and settings available in it. The white block will be where your player character will stand so you can see equipment changes in real time. Underneath the item description will be a preview model of the item which, hopefully you should be able to inspect.

This is still at an early stage, so things are liable to change.

We've also got a pile of bugs to work through, and potentially have Analyse be able to identify Cover, making it easier to see what conceals you and what doesn't.

As you can see, there's a lot on the go. This week isn't possible, but hopefully by the 1st we should have everything done and working for a proper release!
