Hello everyone!
Level 2: "Sea Signal" has now been added to the Tiny Spaces demo.
I wanted to go for a little island diorama this time, so I started by making the little island in Blender. I had lots of fun choosing the colors and the shape, and I hope you like the result. After finishing the island, I needed water. For this, I found a nice toon water shader, which I tweaked to get the desired look. The shader was applied to a plane placed over a transparent box.
Once the island and water were positioned, I started working on the level's puzzles. As usual, there are three to solve:
I learned a lot during this process, particularly about creating destructible objects (check this out) and displaying 2D UI elements in a 3D world (using materials with billboards enabled).
Lastly, I had a blast making the seagulls fly between different areas. I created the silhouette in Inkscape, animated the wings with a shader, and added a trail renderer for a final touch. Surprisingly, implementing a basic trail renderer in Godot was more challenging than expected.
That's all for this post. Go try out the new level and let me know what you think!
