Thank you all for your feedback so far! I'm back to announce that the first update is now live. Below, I'll outline all the updates I've made and as well as the things I've learned.
Issue: A lot of players noted that the x2 tile felt unfair.
Well, I stopped and thought hard about what made it so difficult to play against. In all honestly, placing two tiles at once is a great power, but it's definitely not unstoppable. The problem is that you need to be able to plan for it. A late round x2 can seal your fate if you were unprepared.
Solution: The preview system now allows you to see the enemy's tiles up to 3 turns ahead. It doesn't tell you where the tile will go, but it gives you a little more control over the flow of the match. If you see a dangerous tile coming, it makes it easier to set up a strategy to counter it.
Also, this fits well with the draw/hand mechanics that I'm working on for a later update.
Issue: Rewards give you the choice of accepting or declining a single option.
I didn't put much thought into it before a playtester pointed it out, but the reward system is barely interactive. Yes, you get a reward after winning a match, but it doesn't require much input on your part.
Solution: Winning a match now presents you with two rewards, allowing you to choose one before moving along. This lets you control the look of your deck a little more and forces you into some strategic decisions (recover health or gain new powers?). It also looks a little better this way!
There are a few smaller changes that aren't worthy of their own section, so I'll speed through them here.
That wraps up the changes in this version! If you'd like to contact me or help provide feedback, feel free to join my Discord (https://discord.gg/4QVFXrzK2X) or follow me on X @unbreadedGames. Or, use the in-game form!
