Hi! I'm Laura. I was responsible for creating the 2D art in our game, Not so Trash Panda.
The main menu background is one of the first pieces of 2D art I made for our game, so it helped me establish our 2D art style. The style features thick clean lines and soft colors.
To fit the theme of our game, I made a simple repeating wallpaper of different pieces of trash (a fishbone, apple, banana peel, dog bone, and a can). This wallpaper can be found in the background of several of our menus.
For the settings menu, I created a raccoon paw to use as a handle for the sliders.
From the begining, we knew having a cutscene would be important for establishing our game's story. We discussed making it 3D, but ended up going with a 2D comic strip style cutscene. In this comic, the raccoon (player) finds cotton candy while digging through the trash, but it is swiftly taken away by a thieving crow. For the background art, I took in-game screenshots and drew over them to match the environments as closely as possible. This allows for the final panel to transition directly into gameplay.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy our game, Not so Trash Panda!
