As a way to prepare in advance for this year's GBJam, I went back to this template and polished it a bit.
One of the major changes in the latest unity versions is that the Universal 2D templates already come with very handy packages pre-installed. So I decided to add some examples that involve text and canvases.
For every example I show here, there's hundreds of way of reaching the same functionality, but I did my best to keep things simple, readable and expandable. The one that stands out is the Dialog System, it's the one I used in some of my games. It's very versatile, with room for expansion.
There's also mobile friendly touch controls that can even be used in WebGL. People will be able to play your game on their phone, directly from the game page.
Anyway, make sure you read the documentation before installing the package. And if you create something cool with it, please reach out! It's always awesome to see what people create.
