Hello, everyone!
I have been working on Breath of Fire II Awakening non-stop and wanted to give a progress report. Firstly though, I want to say I greatly appreciate everyone for their continued support on this free project. By giving me ideas, feedback, discussing, playing the game, and/or donating (to support me as an indie dev) have been a great source of inspiration and motivation. I have been working on this project for over 3 years now and at times it can feel like an endless endeavor.
For some insight on what I’m doing: I’m taking the completed 4.1b game and doing a massive overhaul. I focus on one area at a time area and remap it to 2.5D. This includes expanding upon areas to make them more expansive and align/test the 3D models that I put in the game and do testing to ensure no clipping. Each area also has models/textures/sprites that I need to create/modify. Then I upgrade the pathing and spruce up the cutscenes. Then comes the endless testing and fixing that comes with all the changes. Additionally, more quests are added, and the existing ones are completely redone for each area. I find that breaking down each area into a section and polishing it to the completion is the best way to do it. Regarding the mapping, I envision a diorama for every area.
Anyway, sorry to be so verbose but here is the roadmap (does not include any of the other updates):
