Let me explain "The Event".
Gaia, our planet Earth, has had enough of humanity—like an irritating rash crawling over her surface. In response, she orchestrates a comet collision, making the Earth's surface uninhabitable. As humanity faces this impending disaster, they must make swift decisions to ensure their survival. From this crisis emerge three distinct stories:
I've already written "Rock in Space" as a musical concept album, and I had some specific musical ideas that I wanted to explore.
Growing up with an Atari ST while my cool friends had the C64 with its endless array of games was a formative experience. The Norwegian Atari ST market was limited in its supply of games, but I absolutely loved the sounds of both the Atari ST and the C64. These sounds fueled my imagination, and I believed I was hearing an entire orchestra, complete with effects like reverb and echoes, emanating from these—by today’s standards—primitive computers.
For a long time, I've wanted to create a chip-tune album using authentic chip sounds, filtered through my childhood imagination to recreate what I thought I heard back in the 80s. I envision this album as a concept album with a storyline that threads through all the songs, reminiscent of the narratives in those old games.
Rock in Space is also available on my bandcamp page and on Spotify :) Enjoy.
