Demons Within Update 8 out on Patreon!

After the small 'break' we had for the very special bad ending of update 7.5, we're back on track!

Following the story right after the big events of Update 7, things move on. There are more surprises coming Resnick's way, as you will see, and this update is, well, the start of that. Compared to some other updates, this one is pretty chill, all things considered. For those that enjoy lore pieces, world information and overall just seeing the characters they like the most in their environment, this should be a good one! For those hungering for bigger things, rest assured that there's much still to come in the horizon. Much, I assure you!

For now, in Update 8 you will find...

Update 8 Changelog

• A little over 10k words of new story content moving forward after the events of Update 7
• Three new sprites! Two main sprites appearing in the new content and one new, simpler sprite that you can see during Ludwig's day, which has been enhanced with it (but otherwise didn't change much)
• Five new memories to unlock, four of them within the new content, one back in Ludwig's day, and two of those with full sprite viewer content
• A few new sprite variations for other characters that will be naturally unlocked through the new content as you see it
• New credits screen after the build is over showcasing some of the recent fan art and showing how these will be in the future

I talked on my Patreon devlogs a bunch about how this update was supposed to be a bit longer in the initial plans, but the scene where this update ends ended up needing more work and it got expanded. I thought up a bunch of things that I think will *really* enhance what that scene is meant to be and we're already working on making that a reality (CG shenanigans!). That does mean it got pushed back to Update 9, though, but it will be worth it! My goal is to always make every part of the game as best as it can be and, while I didn't want to delay the release of Update 8 because of it, I think the game will be better for it.

The changes to Ludwig's day are also part of a new thing we're trying out with secondary characters where we spend less time and effort in their sprites, but work on them nonetheless. I think it's working out and I think the game and Ludwig's day are both better for the fact that we can see the special character that appears there. There are a few more in the game that might receive this treatment soon and I'm looking forward to getting to that!

The release of Update 8 on Patreon, as usual, marks this date. In about 4 weeks from now, Update 8 will be released to the public as well!
