The idea for Connect Four with these special pieces came to me one afternoon while hanging out with friends and smoking weed. It started as a joke, and then I decided to develop it.
First, I made a prototype with fewer slots on the board and much rougher. Once I saw the best way to program it using the prototype as a reference, I started another project to make the code cleaner and more modular.
When I saw that it worked, I made a first build for Android so I could play with my friends. That's where my "courage" to export to something more than PC came from. I am a very novice developer and had never tried to make something for mobile or HTML before.
At that time, I only had the game, without menus or options, and it even had bugs. So I spent the next few days fixing the bugs and making a menu, a tutorial, and several options.
Then I adjusted each version to provide the necessary options for each device. For example, I didn't need a button to close the game in HTML. In Android, I didn't really need it either, but I left it because Android Studio sometimes bugged out, and I ended up keeping it.
And the game was ready, with all three versions working. All that was left was to make the Itch.io page and publish it. That's how I made the game in just over three days. In my opinion, it turned out pretty well for what it is and the time I had.
If you've read this and haven't tried the game yet, I recommend you give it a go. Just keep in mind it's only local multiplayer, so you'll need another person.
Thank you very much for reading, hugs to everyone!
