#5 Devlog: The Factions and their Ships in "Flight Assist Off Race"

In FAOR, there are three racing styles or factions. Each of them has their own race tracks with distinct styles that require different approaches to achieve a good time. Each faction also has a specific ship that is very well suited for these tracks—and maybe not so much for others. For example, the Elite Slinger from the Cosmic Corporate League is extremely fast. But good luck making it alive through a narrow asteroid field with that beast.

Before you get your hands on proper ships, you’ll have to manage with the Rookie Pods. These are slow and their maneuverability is mediocre at best. But being slow means you won’t crash as quickly into a rock.

You unlock better ships by finishing levels.

Ore Runners

The space miners. Originally, they mined space rocks for their valuables and are very proficient in maneuvering within asteroid fields. Their “race tracks” are merely locations they liked from previous jobs. Also, their ships are mostly modified industrial machinery. They constantly need repair—but they do pack a punch, so don’t underestimate the Ore Runner:

Skyforge Renegades

What started off as a racing festival—of course, very illegal—became an underground subculture of racers. They race in abandoned Skyforges where regulations are pretty non-existent. Their racing ships are basically the most powerful engines they could acquire, with only the most necessary parts on top to control them. The life expectancy is quite low for ambitious racers in this field. On the other hand, the fame for winners is unmatched.

Cosmic Corporate League

The CCL. Every racer’s dream. Sponsored by the big corporations, these tracks are purely designed for racing at the highest speeds. The ships are state-of-the-art tech that easily surpasses anything the government or military has. The speeds are mind-numbing, and without knowing the track inside and out, it’s impossible to go at full speed.

To achieve the best possible high scores, you’ll have to unlock better ships and return to previous levels.
