#SVM24 #Major Update #Neurostrike
Well hi Guys, for SMVM 23 I rated 4th!!! Thank you all who participated and i am very happy with the rating. So now its onwards and upwards and its a big one today.
In game UI:
The user interface has had an overhaul, many people were concerned that there was no way of seeing what Mods and weapon they had Equipped so I revamped the UI which allows the player to see what weapons, grenades and mods that they have equipped all along the top of the screen
Player Controller:
The player controller has seen some Changes since the previous upload. Players now have a larger ground detection radius making platforming infinitely better, shooting has been overhauled allowing players to run and gun better, jump and firing is now more seamless (no more waiting for max height before shooting), Made the keyboard controls closer together, I do plan to make grenade throwing possible on keyboard and controller but still the same issue at the moment.
Overall, these changes make the game more responsive and intuitive allowing a more seamless experience, as development continues i will keep improving upon the current controls and improve the overall experience
Interfaces:
I have started making more interfaces for the game, the major one was obviously the in game changes but i have also added a whole new title screen with a system independent start menu, this allows me to add more features that are system specific (such as online, offline versions) though at the moment only the bare basics are on there but i will be adding the rest as development continues
Save/Load:
That's right, we can now save and load games online and offline, this was a given as the current zone is huge and there are another 7+ zones in this game all of an equal or larger size, this was a blocker I had since the rating ended and i have now resolved this, Save files currently only contain position data and health values other elements have not been added yet, this is a custom save file so there is a limitless (well no more that 5MB data) amount of possibilities and i will be taking full advantage of this throughout development. The 3 save zones currently on the map are, bottom of the ladders that lead to the sewer power generator, above the first mini boss and towards the bottom of the sewers just before the deep sewer zone (Coming Soon) you cannot save data anywhere only in the save safe zones scattered throughout the world. Just bare in mind Each time i upload a new version your current saves will also be wiped, unless I release a stand alone version which will be updated less but when it is the changes will be more significant.
Sound FX:
I have added new sound effects to the game, these include enemies, UI and player bringing that little more life into the world
More work and improvements are coming, i have taken the feedback i received in SMVM 23 and taking it with me into SMVM 24 by the time we get to the end of this challenge I will have hopefully completed the current red zones level and be moving on to the next area in this huge game.
Melee attack will be a thing soon, this is to address the issues people were having issues killing bad guys while in close quarters soon the player will have a choice of murderous weapons to counter that issue
I will work to fix the current issues associated with the player experience such as controls and weird NPC behaviors. I will also work on the player controller and polishing it to work better.
I will be adding a narrative to the game very soon along with more SFX, BGM, Enemy Types, Bosses Mini/Large, Weapons, Mods and more challenging obstacles. Now how much i will get done before the next Submission Date is any ones guess but i will work bloody hard to get there
