This was an update that was more of a slog in the background than what's visible to the user.
I changed up the upgrades so that they're based on images rather than just text. It should be a better experience for the user. One issue is that there are now over 250 upgrades in the game. Thankfully I remembered the program nanDeck which helped me quickly create images from a template. It took some fiddling, but it was worth it.
There's also a "How to Play" level now - so that should cover the basics for a lot of folks. I didn't dive too deeply into the upgrades and the way that energy can benefit you after a level ends (buying more upgrades, restoring lives, etc.) as I wanted to leave something for the player to discover.
I have to update the Enemy portraits, work on procedural generation of the levels and the main "map", and add a few bosses in.
