April update consists mostly of tech tree and bug hives. I was not as productive as I wanted, but that's how it goes.
Tech tree:
My hope is that this gives the player more guidance on what to work on next. Players are often overwhelmed with all the choices at the start of the game, since all buildings are available. And this is even with pre-alpha content! Tech tree is just the start to establish a framework to help players structure their progression. There is definitely more work in the area.
Bug hives
I want the player to feel like their base is their refuge. This means they can't just wander around willy nilly! Bug hives solves this problem since if you are too close, it triggers a ton of enemies. This also sets up a future feature for quests: you will be tasked to venture out of the base to find an item, kill a boss, rescue some humans, etc while fighting through this bug hive infested landscape.
