Devlog Prototype Version 3.0 Release
Prototype Version 3.0 Release Notes:
New Features:
- Main Menu
- (we have added a main menu to display the game title)
- New Track Level
- (we have added a new level for the more hardcore players)
- Track Selection Option
- (we have added the option for players to select between our "Easy" and "Hard" Tracks
- Objective Screen
- (we added an objective screen to inform the player what the goal of the game is)
- Countdown at the start of the race
- (we have added a countdown to the start of both levels)
- Score Data Calculation
- (we have added a score system that displays when you win the race)
- The score is calculated by:
- Number of Ships Destroyed
- Energy Restored through Energy Rings
- Total Energy Left
- Engine Trails
- (we have added afterburner trails for the ship to increase player immersion in flying)
- Energy Ring Trail
- (we have added a trail that follows the edge of the energy rings to show importance)
- Sound Effects
- (we have added sound effects to player interactions)
- Sound effects added include:
- Shooting Laser Cannons
- Alien Ship Explosion
- Energy Tank
- (when the player starts to run low on energy an alert sound starts to play)
- Music Soundtracks
- (we have added music soundtracks for the main menu while Idle and music for when players are playing)
- New Explosion Particle Effects
- (we have replaced the old explosion particle effects with a new more realistic style)
- UI Animations
- (we have added some life to important aspects of gameplay)
- UI Animations have been added to:
- Countdown at the Start of the Race
- Total score at the End of the Race when you win
- Boost Pick up
- Menu Interactions
Improvements:
- Adjusted placement of UI
- (we have moved all the UI elements toward the bottom of the screen to increase player immersion)
- Adjusted Tube Track material
- (we have adjusted the Tube Track Color and added a scratched glass material to give players a better sense of where the edge of the wall is)
- Added Subtle Lighting to the Main Player Shuttle
- (we have added some subtle lighting to showcase more detailed work done on the ship model)
- Reset Level Chosen
- (we have added the option to restart the current level if you lose)
- Updated Objective Screen
- (we have simplified the objective to be less lengthy of a read and made it into four concise statements)
- Adjusted Collision on UFO Ship
- (players would collide too frequently when not directly hitting the UFOs. We adjusted the colliders so now you are less likely to collide with the UFOs from a greater distance)
- Adjusted Color of Wall Blockers
- (we have adjusted the color of the walls that players have to navigate through the tunnel to make it easier to see where you need to fly through)
- Improved Reticle Spawnpoint
- (we improved the reticle spawn point. It no longer spawns on top of the player)

- (we replaced the cylinders with the UFOs to fit the space theme)
- Guide Arrows
- (we added guide arrows on the outside of the track so when the player dies they can make sure they are heading in the correct direction)
