We've changed gears a bit and are now focusing on making a really solid player prototype before moving on to the full demo and mechanics.
SO FAR WE'VE GOT THE FOLLOWING...
- New player controller
- A box with physics and a light attached - for the player to push around and solve puzzles that will be added eventually
- Working torch and gun pickups
- Two different attacks - shoot the gun or swing the torch
- Most character animations implemented so far - climbing a ladder, ledge climbing, and landing are coming soon
- Gun aiming and shooting at 360 degrees around the player
- Player pod that respawns the player after their death
- The player leaves behind their dead body each time they die
MORE TO COME...
MAJOR
- Change gun mechanics to allow the player to hold down the fire button to charge the attack
- Implement climbing ladders
- Implement edge detection and climbing
- Add UI for the player's jet fuel
- Add UI for the player's gun powering up and cooling down
MINOR / ADDITIONAL POLISH
- Get the death particle looking better
- Correct the player's dead body facing the wrong way if they die facing to the left
- Implement the player landing animation
- Make items respawn to their original locations after the player dies
- Cause a water splash when the player lands near a waterfall
- Cause smaller splashes when the player walks through the water near a waterfall
