v0.1.2 ● We Have Liftoff
Howdy Everyone 🤠
First off, I'm truly thrilled with the amount of hype y'all have thrown my way. I'm super excited to see what people end up making and am glad that folks love this little project so much. Thank you for all your support!
As a thank you, I've gone ahead and updated the generator with some basic bug fixes and minor tweaks. Most excitingly, downloads are now working as intended! Go download some systems (once you are done reading this update of course)! Full changelog follows.
(actually... downloading might be a little too powerful. As I'm writing this I stumbled across a system that when downloaded as a PNG came out to over 20,000px wide. Whoops!)
v0.1.2
This is the second patch for v0.1. The first patch included only a fix for the hotkeys which were broken on windows (thanks MTB for letting me know).
New Features
- You can now zoom in and out with the "-" and "=" keys
- Added a new settings menu.
- Settings: You can now adjust the line weight of the orbits. You can set this to zero to turn off orbit lines altogether.
- Settings: Added a toggle for consistent line weight. This setting prevents lines from scaling as you zoom in and out, meaning they won't shrink down to nothing from afar. This is on by default.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed: Downloading as SVG/PNG downloads the entire image, even if parts are cutoff (except hyperbolic orbits–see below).
- Fixed: Random systems can now generate with multiple moons.
- Fixed: Adding a host to the top level system when previously there were none now adds it as the correct size. Likewise for the top system's first orbit.
- Fixed: Eccentric orbits now push away their neighbors correctly.
- Fixed: Anywhere you can set angles, you can set negative numbers. These will update to the correct degrees once you are done. This makes turning things all the way around easier.
Known Issues
- If any orbits with an eccentricity greater than 1 fall outside the largest regular orbit, it won't appear in the downloaded image.
- PNGs download with resolution equal to SVGs resolution. Sorry if you accidentally open a huge file and your computer crashes. For now, I recommend downloading as SVG and converting another way.
