Make a Star System ●●●

I just released a new solar system mapping / procgen tool I've been working on. I experimented with maps like this for the playtest adventure of Drier Deserts, Hotter Suns and really liked them, but wanted a way to generate them quickly. Here it is!

Features

• Generate star systems in binary, ternary or even quinary arrangements! Three-body problem be damned!
• Add orbits to the system, orbits to those orbits, and orbits to those orbits' orbits.
• Eccentric orbits!
• Adjust the size and angle of the planets.
• Re-arrange, edit, delete, or clear everything and start fresh
• Randomly generated systems
• Keyboard shortcuts
• Download as SVG or PNG

Known Issues

• Eccentric orbits are a little bit buggy and don't render properly in some situations.
• The UI on deeply nested orbits gets too squished
• Randomize hotkey doesn't work in some browser  Fixed! see v0.1.1
• Downloads currently only render what's being displayed. Too much white space for small systems and big systems may be cut off. Fixed! see v0.1.2
• Randomize currently doesn't add binary planets/moons.

Planned Features

• Different line weights, dashed lines, etc.
• Different shapes for planets/stars
• Ability to rotate binaries, adjust spacing between stars, etc.
• Pan/scroll
• Better procgen (and a random system at startup)
• Save/Load
