IMPORTANT: We will try to port Z-Island to UE5!

Hello to all our Patreons and followers,

We have a very important announcement for all of you. As you may know, Z-Island has been built in UnrealEngine 4 and after analyzing, reviewing, and studying Unreal Engine 5 extensively, we have discussed with Ighi and decided to port Z-Island to UE5. Yes, it's a difficult, unpredictable, and complicated project, but we believe we can do it. By doing so, we'll take advantage of UE5's benefits and significantly improve the visual quality of Z-Island.

We must consider that currently, the components we use to develop Z-Island belong to third parties, and they have updated their templates and plugins. However, we have built upon the previous versions a series of necessary functionalities that make it impossible for us to use the latest versions of each one without having to redo everything. Therefore, we will undertake a path where we will port each and every component ourselves. This is a risk, but it's the only way to do it without having to redo the entire Z-Island.

So, the port would have three major stages:

• Migrating all the C++ code to UE5. There are 5 plugins, and we estimate it will take us about 1 month to get everything to compile and work.
• Migrating all the content: blueprints, maps, levels, characters, additional components, which would take another month.
• Reviewing, correcting, and fixing all the bugs and issues that arise.

That's right, our roadmap would have 3 months to complete the port.

It's important to communicate that there's a possibility, small but real, that the game simply cannot be ported due to some issue that we are currently unaware of. We may not have all the information until we are in the midst of the migration process. If we encounter this scenario, we will immediately notify you that, unfortunately, Z-Island is not compatible with UE5. Hopefully, this won't happen.

If everything goes well, after the next 3 months, we will have Z-Island in UE5 and will work simultaneously to deliver Chapter 19. Therefore, the next version would be Z-Island v0.19.UE5.
