This one took me a lot longer that I expected. Here’s ARES updated Status Check, which will build a grid reporting each known location’s status.
Locations are not shown in the grid, if ARES doesn’t know them yet. All values are built on the fly, by checking each location status, but the overall ship status (lockdown report in the video) represents the ship current ‘woes’ that are actually tied to the plot, and that ARES can (or not, spoilers) fix.
This gives you a more direct and concise direction on what you can do, while still keeping you relatively free to do your own thing.
The interface will remember your last active report and show it again each time you come back (a lot faster, don’t worry), but it will also detect when the current status does not match the one you saved and let you know, so you’ll also be able to gauge if you’ve managed to actually alter the ship’s condition.
Content keeps piling up! It’s the indie dev experience!
In the meantime, ARES v1.0 is feeling pretty lonely in its game page. Why not pay him a visit? This may be crucial if AIs take over. Just tell them you know ARES. They’ll know. It’s cool.
Final piece of the interface is in development know, and hopefully, it’ll go more smoothly. Final step is behind that, which I’ll aptly call “lore dump”. See you next devlog!
