Remastered Release
This post marks the release of a new version of The Sentinel Project.
The original game was group project created for a Game Design class at UCF. It was one of the first games any of us had worked on, so it had various issues with art and programming.
The goal I set for myself with this release was to generally improve the game without making it feel like a different game by the end.
This is a non-comprehensive list of updates/improvements I made:
- Overall scaling
- Use of lighting
- Baked lighting and occlusion culling
- Added interaction audio with keys and buttons
- Adjusted audio overall
- The keypad in the final room now has interactable buttons (so you don't type on your keyboard now)
- The small display in the final room now replicates the large display
- Added sprinting, jumping, crouching, and toggling of the flashlight
- Fixed the cursors behavior
- Added a reticle for the player
- Added an additional sentinel and tweaked their behavior
- Added more usage of the existing props
- The clue screens are now randomly assigned numbers, so the code will be different each time
- The player can hide under desks to avoid sentinel detection
- Added a screen in the start room with the controls
- Fixed various bugs
