Change Log: Update 1.1
Posted March 12, 2024 by spidy
Hi,
I wasn't expecting to ever really do any updates to this game, but I had some ideas to make the gameplay experience both more approachable and more challenging as to further test players' learning of the game as well as giving inexperienced players more of a chance to pick up on mechanics (though the game is meant to be heavily focused on trial-and-error gameplay, so not by much).
Change Log #1.1:
- New Gameplay Features
- Added a new sound effect to depict the player's current sanity level.
- A heartbeat can now be heard, growing louder as the player's sanity is lowered.
- Added a new visual cue to depict when the player experiences sanity loss.
- The screen now has a strain effect that will appear to emphasize what lowers sanity.
- Balance Adjustments
- Changed the "Lights" event spawning to function using randomized timed occurrence rather than by plain random chance.
- This was done to fix the consistency of encounters and also prevent it from spawning with absurd frequency.
- Adjusted how event frequences scale according to timer progression and game mode.
- Event spawns are now less frequent with less time passed, making early game phases more relaxed.
- Event spawns are now more frequent with more time passed, making late game phases more hectic.
- On Hard Mode, events are more frequent than before.
- Changed the duration of the time allowed to react to certain events depending to difficulty mode.
- On Normal Mode, the reaction window to address "Hide" events was slightly increased.
- On Hard Mode, the reaction window to address "Door" and "Hide" events was slightly decreased.
- Increased the duration the "Door" event's knock phase will last when playing on Hard Mode.
- Slightly reduced the amount of sanity lost when the lights are off while playing on Hard Mode.
- Slightly increased the amount of sanity replenished when the cassette is playing on Normal Mode.
- You now get a minimal sanity increase for each button press when using the pattern game toy.
- Auditory "Hide" hallucinations will no longer play until "Hide" events have begun to occur in-game.
- Miscellaneous Fixes
- Fixed being able to go over the sanity limit of 100%.
All feedback is really appreciated as to help this game be as enjoyable as can be! <3
