Fun with Audio: YouTube to Game Soundbites
I played with the audio for Crush Crush Healthcare/Hopital - I can't actually decide if I like HealthCare or Hospital better - but the audio is always fun for me, particularly the music and I can get lost in it. The sound bites were a bit of a pain to extract down to the game level and here is what I did:
- I found some news clips on YouTube and watched some, thinking about keywords that would explain the character's actions
- Politicians never disappoint and there is always something to work with
- There were some videos that were more marketing focused with background music - I thought the clips might be short enough that one could overlook (overhear?) the music but that wasn't the case
- I screen recorded the video clips that had the soundbites I wanted
- I used Windows Gamebar but Zoom or CamStudio or something else would work
- I know there are some apps to do YouTube to Audio but didn't try them - open to recommendations
- I used VLC Media Player to convert to audio
- And then into Audacity to extract the soundbites
- Export Range: Current Selection was a great help in Audacity to highlight and export all the chunks quickly
