Hello Coders 👾!
I hope you’re all doing fantastic! It’s time for another short update of what I’ve made so far! The most difficult part is that the game is being build for a game development course I’m taking and that I have to include some features that are required for the assignments. I might remove them again later if I don’t think they would benefit the game😅. But, I think the current progress marks the completion of the current lesson about audio.
I’ve been working hard on the game, and I’m excited to share what I’ve accomplished. First off, I’ve managed to get the collision detection up and running! Now, when the car crashes, a few dramatic things happen: the music halts, the car screeches to a stop, and—wait for it—an explosion sound effect booms through the speakers, complete with explosion particles. And for that extra touch, I’ve added a camera shake effect that really sells the impact.
And for those of you who like a little peace and quiet while gaming, I’ve added a mute button on the screen. Just a little something to give you control over the game’s audio.
Looking ahead, the next lesson is all about UI, and I’m pretty stoked about it. Here’s what I’m planning to tackle:
I’m also planning to spend a bit more time on the menu to add placeholders for future features, like a high score board. It’s all about laying the groundwork for a smooth development process down the line.
I’m always looking for feedback and ideas, so if you have any suggestions or thoughts on what I’ve shared today, please don’t hesitate to drop a comment. Your input is invaluable to me!
And if you’re enjoying these updates and don’t want to miss out on future ones, make sure to follow. It means the world to me to have your support on this coding adventure.
That’s all for this devlog, my friends. I can’t wait to share more with you next time. Keep coding, keep creating, and let’s make some awesome games together!
Until next time,
Happy Coding! 🚀
