Devlog 3, Inventory and other various updates

The Show (Alpha)
A browser game made in HTML5

Updated the prototype to version 2. This update brings quite a lot of changes and additions to the game.

Changelog:

  1. Added an inventory system. Players can access the inventory by pressing the tab button
  2. Added equipping tools. Currently, only the gun has functions
  3. Added usable items. Currently, only medicines can be used to recover health
  4. Added discarding items. Discarding items completely removes the item from the player's inventory. This will be overhauled to give players scraps
  5. Added salvaging items (early prototype). Players can now interact with cabinets on shelves  to obtain items (currently limited to bullets, guns, medicines, and scraps)
  6. Added scrap counter on the inventory screen.
  7. Added interactable items (currently limited to guns). Players can interact with the items to pick them up
  8. Added environment items to Living Quarters and Medic Bay
  9. Reduce bullet travel time. This can be increased when guns are upgraded
  10. Reduce gun damage
  11. Randomize the enemy's health. Some enemies are now much tankier compared to others
  12. Increase brightness in rooms
  13. Change SFX of enemies when they are hit to make it easier to differentiate between injured enemy and dead enemy
  14. Added various SFX and UI FX

Now that the game has a proper inventory system, players will begin with nothing except 10 bullets.

Players will now need to find a gun if they want to properly defend themselves. Guns can be found in shelves, or as interactable.

After finding a gun, player will need to equip them in the inventory screen before they can use the gun.

Cabinets can now be scavenged for items. Items found in cabinets are randomized. Currently, you can get a gun, medicine, bullets, or scraps from cabinets.

Medicines can be used to treat injury when your health is low. Players can use medicine from the inventory screen.

And that is for this update. For the next update, I will primarily focus more on crafting. Hopefully, it will be finished by the end of next week. Until then, thank you for reading.
